The Client and the Challenge

Visium is a medical clinic in Ukraine with several departments and, when we started, a website in serious trouble. The site had been infected and listed in virus databases; Google was warning visitors away. Beneath the infection lay years of technical neglect: duplicate pages with uppercase URLs, a review page generating duplicates through dynamic URLs, junk pages generated by the CMS and historical migrations, outgoing links to irrelevant sites, no regional structure for a clinic serving several cities, no sitemap and no HTTPS. Medical topics are heavily filtered by Google, so the site needed to be both clean and trustworthy before content could work.

Our Approach

A full technical analysis identified the errors and set the order of repair. The site was cleaned and removed from the virus databases. Meta tags were written across the site. Robots rules were rewritten to open the files that needed indexing and close the junk. Duplicate pages with capital letters in the URL were canonicalized and other duplicates closed with noindex. The reviews page was given a dynamic URL structure and its duplicate states linked through HIJAX so each review state could exist without spawning duplicate pages.

What We Did

Malware removal
Indexing and canonical clean-up
Regional structure
GBP per department
HTTPS migration
Links and content

The site was divided into regions with /city/ folders so each department's location had its own indexable section. A sitemap was set up, the junk index removed from search results, outgoing links removed, and the remaining duplicate pages - there were many - consolidated. A Google Business Profile was created for each department, fully optimized and kept under management. Links were added to the promoted categories, texts were written where pages lacked them, competitor analysis identified features to adopt, the semantic core was collected and added, layout and hosting edits were made, and the site was moved to HTTPS.

Because Google filters medical content heavily and demands quality, understanding the niche's requirements took time; the technical rescue was the precondition for any of it.

Results

Clean index and growing category traffic.

The clinic's site went from flagged and duplicated to clean, indexed, regionally structured and secure, with a Google Business Profile for every department and growth already visible in the promoted categories at the end of the engagement.

Notes From the Project

The regional structure deserves a note because multi-department clinics get it wrong so often. Each /city/ folder became a proper section: the departments at that location, their services, doctors, hours, contact details and directions, marked up with LocalBusiness data and linked to the corresponding Google Business Profile. That gave Google a clear page to rank for each city's medical searches and gave patients a page that answered their actual question - is there a department near me and what does it do - instead of a national home page.

What This Means for Your Business

Multi-location clinics in Metro Vancouver need the same two things this project delivered: a technically clean, secure site Google will trust with medical content, and a managed Google Business Profile for every department and location. North SEO's healthcare SEO service starts with the technical audit for exactly these reasons.
