An airline ticket reseller in Ukraine needed a redesign. Its site worked but looked like it had been built a decade earlier, and in ticket sales, where the customer is about to enter card details, a dated design costs conversions directly: people abandon a booking flow they do not trust. The client did not want a rebuild, just a design that matched the trust the business had earned, delivered on a small budget.
We started by gathering the client's requirements properly - what they liked and disliked about the current site, which competitors they admired, which pages mattered most for revenue, what had to stay for technical reasons - and turned them into a technical specification for the designer. A design brief written from requirements rather than taste keeps a small project small: the designer knows the constraints, the client knows what they will get.
The designer produced the new layouts against the brief, focused on the search and booking flow where trust matters most: clearer forms, visible security and payment signals, consistent typography and colour, and a mobile layout that works for someone booking from a phone. The changes were implemented, then checked against the brief page by page - not just for appearance but for whether every element the specification required was present and working. The finished design was presented to the client with the reasoning behind each decision.
Keeping the URL structure and page inventory unchanged meant the redesign carried no SEO risk: no redirects, no lost rankings, just a better-looking and better-converting version of the same site.
The reseller received a redesigned site that looks like a business customers can trust with a payment, delivered within a small fixed budget and without disturbing the technical foundation or the search rankings the old site had built.
Presentation was part of the deliverable, not an afterthought. Each screen was shown alongside the requirement it satisfied and the conversion reasoning behind it - why the booking form was simplified, why trust signals sit next to the payment step, why the mobile layout stacks the way it does. That gave the client the vocabulary to evaluate the design against the business goal rather than personal preference, and it meant the sign-off happened in one meeting. The redesign also fixed a handful of small usability faults the requirements review surfaced - a date picker that did not work on older phones, error messages that appeared out of view, a currency selector hidden in the footer - none of which had been the reason for the redesign and all of which had been costing bookings. Fixing them inside the design project cost almost nothing extra, which is the argument for gathering requirements properly before a designer opens a file.
