When Steam on Wheels expanded to a second service area, it needed a second Google Business Profile - and a second profile for a mobile business is where owners most often get suspended. Google allows one profile per distinct location or service area, and two service-area profiles with overlapping coverage, the same phone number or identical descriptions are flagged as duplicates. The second location had to be set up to be genuinely distinct and to comply with Google's rules while still benefiting from the brand's existing reputation.
We created the second profile as a separate service-area business with its own coverage area, defined by the cities and zip codes that did not overlap the first location, its own contact details and its own description. Keyword research for the profile focused on the same detailing terms - mobile detailing, interior detailing, ceramic coating, paint correction, steam cleaning - combined with the new area's location names, and competitor analysis reviewed the detailers already ranking there, since the competitive picture in the new area differed from the first.
Categories mirrored the first profile where appropriate - car detailing primary, specific services secondary - but services and products were written fresh for the new location, with descriptions and prices matching what it offers, and the business description was written around the new service area rather than copied. Photos were added and optimized: vehicles detailed in the new area, the team and the equipment, so the profile showed a real operation rather than a duplicate listing.
A review campaign invited customers from the new area specifically, every review was checked and answered, and four keyword-based posts introduced the service to the new coverage area. Positions were monitored for the target searches in the new area and the service area boundaries and services refined as the data came in.
Steam on Wheels gained a second, compliant, fully built profile competing in its new service area without endangering the first - two distinct listings, each ranking on its own signals. The full local SEO case study for the business covers the campaign across both.
Managing two service-area profiles for one brand also means managing the customer flow between them. Each profile carried its own booking link and phone number so enquiries could be tracked to the right area, and the descriptions and posts were written to make clear which locations each profile serves. Reviews were requested from customers in the corresponding area so each listing built its own reputation rather than one profile absorbing all the feedback. The configuration was documented for the owner - what each profile covers, which number belongs to which - so future expansion could follow the same pattern without risking either listing.
Vancouver businesses expanding to a second location - Burnaby, Surrey, the North Shore - face the same duplicate-profile risk. North SEO sets up multi-location profiles so each ranks independently and none gets suspended, then manages both.
