The Client and the Challenge

This company had done everything right once. A few years earlier its Google Business Profile had been properly set up and optimized, and it had held a strong position in the local pack. Then nobody maintained it. Photos aged, the description no longer listed the full range of services, prices on the products were out of date, and - the most damaging part - the manager never asked customers for a review after a completed order, so the review count stalled while competitors' kept climbing.

Google notices. Profiles that are actively updated, that add photos, that collect fresh reviews and answer them, are treated as more relevant than profiles that went quiet. By the time the company contacted us it had slipped to fifth to seventh place for its main local queries, behind businesses that were smaller but kept their profiles alive. Fifth place in the local pack is effectively invisible; the map shows three.

Our Approach

Rather than patch the profile, we rebuilt it from the ground up as if the business were new. Every field was reviewed: primary and secondary categories, the full service list with descriptions, products with current prices, service area, hours, attributes, the business description rewritten around the queries customers use. A new photo set replaced the outdated one - exterior, interior, team, work in progress - and every image was named and geo-tagged before upload.

The review problem needed a process, not a one-time fix. We wrote a short, polite request the manager sends after every completed order, with a direct link to the review form, and a routine for responding to every review within a day. Posts were scheduled weekly and the Q&A section was seeded with the questions customers actually ask.

What We Did

Full information, services and price refresh
New photos
Review request process for every completed order
Posts and Q&A

The whole rebuild took under two weeks; the monitoring afterwards is what made it stick. We tracked local-pack positions for the target queries daily, watched calls and direction requests in the profile's insights, and adjusted categories and services in the first weeks as the data showed which queries were responding.

Results

#1 in the local pack for all address-based queries within a month; more reviews, higher rating, more calls from the profile, photo views far above competitors, and a rise in orders including online.

One month after the rebuild the company held the number one position in the local pack for every address-based query in its category. Reviews increased and the rating rose with them, which showed up as a rise in customer trust: more calls directly from the profile, photo views many times higher than competitors', and more orders - including online orders, which are rare in this niche and which the client had not expected.

What This Means for Your Business

This is the most common Google Business Profile story in Vancouver: set up once, then forgotten. North SEO's GBP Optimisation and GBP Management services exist because the profile that keeps moving is the one that stays in the 3-pack.
