Suncoast Permits handles permit expediting - the paperwork, submissions and follow-up that construction projects need before they can start. It is a niche where clients search with very specific intent, and where a small number of first-page positions decide who gets the call. The company's site had good service content but was held back by technical issues and a weak link profile.
The engagement ran from October 2021 to June 2022 and was scoped around technical health and authority rather than content: the site already said the right things; it just could not get them in front of the right searches.
Technical work came first. We analysed the site's crawlability, speed and structure, then fixed what was slowing it down and confusing search engines - loading performance, redirect chains, indexing rules, canonical handling and the structural errors that had accumulated over the site's life. Every change was measured against SEO best practices so the site would stay clean after we finished.
With the technical base sound, we developed an off-page strategy: identifying the sources a permit-expediting company can legitimately earn links from - construction and contractor resources, local business directories, industry publications - and building a profile that raised the site's authority without risk.
The SEO analysis and error-correction phase ran alongside the link work. We reviewed the site's optimization page by page, corrected the mistakes we found, and kept a running list of improvements for the client's developer. Progress was tracked in Search Console throughout, so the client could see rankings responding to each phase.
By the end of the engagement the site had moved up for its target searches, organic traffic had increased, and - because the technical fixes also improved the user experience - conversions and enquiries rose with it. The client's market position improved measurably over the eight months.
The link strategy was deliberately conservative. Permit expediting is a professional service where a spammy backlink profile would undermine the trust the company depends on, so every source was reviewed for relevance and reputation before outreach, and the pace was set to look like a business earning attention rather than buying it. The result was a smaller number of links than a volume-driven campaign would have produced - and a profile that has held its value since.
Trades and construction-adjacent businesses in Metro Vancouver depend on the same handful of high-intent searches. North SEO's technical SEO and link-building services address exactly the two constraints this project fixed: a site search engines can crawl properly, and the authority to rank once they do.
